The Endurance

I watched a documentary called the Endurance last night. It's the story of Ernest Shackelton and 27 men who attempted to sail across the Antarctic in 1914. Their ship was "captured" by the ice and sunk. They survived for 17 months with very little food and covering. The story is absolutely stunning and a reminder to persevere even in difficult times. I highly recommend it.

My favorite line from the story was : " At one point all we got was one biscuit a day... we looked at it for breakfast, sucked on it for lunch and ate it for dinner. "

This story gave me perspective on my difficulties during the day. I have food, a house, a car, and so many other things... why do I complain so much ?
